Questioning Origins
“My name is Michael Chike Izuchukwu, and I am Egyptian-American (according to my father, who told me such in December 2018). My first name (Michael) means ‘who is like God’ in Hebrew… My middle name (Chike) means ‘power of God’ in Egypt… and my last name (Izuchukwu) means ‘the plan’ or ‘the schedule’ ‘of God,’ in Nigeria…
Regarding my dad, we had reconnected via cellular conversation… as of April 2018, and spoken for about 8 months… before he disclosed this to me… I graduated from Seton Hall University in 2015, after having officially transferred from Rice University as of August 2012… My mother was born in Jamaica, and my father was born in Nigeria (although he told me that he was of an Ibo tribe, that has ties to Hebrews and people of relative ethnicity/descent). My dad died on October 8, 2020, and I found out about such around 7:30 AM (at the Vanguard Crossing apartment complex, in University City, MO)… I had returned from the nearby Schnucks, after having acquired ‘2 oranges’… As was customary, I left the door unlocked. After having been gone for about 20-30 minutes, there were 2 police officers in my apartment… when I had returned… They said my dad’s pacemaker alarm had gone off, when I was absent (he had to undergo 4 heart surgeries, between 2006 and 2020)… He was sitting in a chair in his bedroom, when I saw him (deceased)…” - Michael Izuchukwu
